This full day tour takes you outside of Kuala Lumpur city and gives you the opportunity to see what the surrounding areas have to offer. Start with a trip to the iconic Batu Caves, then make your way to an Elephant Conservation Center, finally take a relaxed drive through the countryside to Bukit Melawati to meet the silver-leaf monkeys, have dinner and see the amazing spectacle of the fireflies in the mangroves on a boat trip.
Itinerary
9am – depart for Batu Caves, a limestone outcrop and 272 steps climb takes to the temple of Hindu deity Lord Subramaniam who is honored during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in January or February every year. The statue of the Hindu deity stands at 140 feet and was built at a cost of 2.5 million ringgit. The 140 meters statue of Hindu deity Lord Subramaniam is mesmerizing.
1pm – Lunch at the elephant conservation center is followed by a video show on catching and the re-location of rogue elephants.
2pm – A briefing on elephants and introduction. Feeding and feeling of the gentle giants. Bathing of the elephants is subject to river conditions. Bring extra changing clothes just in case.
4pm – A relaxed drive through the countryside to Bukit Melawati in Kuala Selangor.
6pm – On arrival, monkey feeding and interaction. These friendly silvered leaf monkeys live in clusters of 6 – 10 and their infants are orange in color and after 3 months turn silver. They live on young leaves, wild shoots and fruits. This is a unique brush with nature and a take-home experience.
7pm – Seafood dinner at a riverside cafe.
8pm – Take an enjoyable boat ride to watch fireflies fizzing along the mangroves. The fireflies congregate on mangrove trees like dazzling lights on a Christmas tree. They flash synchronously through a biochemical reaction in organs on their bottoms.
9pm – Return transfer to Kuala Lumpur, arriving approximately at 10pm at your hotel.
