Experience fun and excitement with the chance to make your own pewter creation. Showcase your artistic talents and de-stress with a hammer while expressing your creativity in pewtersmithing workshop at Royal Selangor Pewter.
In two separate sessions, you will be guided through the process of creating a pewter dish using traditional tools such as the hammer and wooden mold. You will learn the process of casting, polishing and decorating a pewter by an experienced instructor. At the end of the session, you will take home your own finished pewter dish.

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Kuala Lumpur and taken to the Royal Selangor Pewter. Upon arrival at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, you’ll be met by the house guide for a guided tour. Tour a house with more than a century of history.

Founded in 1885, Royal Selangor is a well-known name in quality pewter, a brand synonymous with design and craftsmanship. In the hands of skilled craftspeople, this versatile alloy of tin, copper and antimony is transformed into an endless variety of homeware and gifts sold in more than twenty countries around the world. The Visitor Centre takes you back over a hundred years to the founding of Royal Selangor and its inextricable link with the history of Malaysia, to the present day as the world’s largest pewter maker and its expansion into gold and sterling silver.

After the house tour, head into the workshop area and get ready for a fun expression of your creativity. Learn a bit more about the importance of the pewter, fine jewelry, and silver industry to Malaysia before sitting down at your work station. Your guide will provide you with all the tools necessary to create your finished product, including a hammer and wooden mold. Learn the secrets of master craftsmen as you run through a 30-minute session to make your own pewter dish.

Thereafter, head to the second workshop station, to learn the process of casting, polishing, and decorating a pewter accessory. Here, bring out your artistic side to create an intricate, sparkling pewter dish and at the end of your 60-minute lesson, you will feel like an expert in the pewter-making process and leave with a new pewter accessory of your own.

Finish your workshop with a cool souvenir to show off to your friends and family, as well as a personalized certificate of completion (certificate only for School of Hard Knocks).

At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your hotel safely.
